Vegetative Propagation of Sandalwood (Santalum album L.): A Review

نویسندگان

چکیده

Vegetative propagation is a fantastic way to improve the quality of forest tree planting stock. It often used in seed orchards and clone banks as method genotype preservation. greatest option when low poor germination rates limit availability stock quality. This review article discusses different vegetative methods, including macro-propagation by cuttings, micropropagation through tissue culture, grafting. Having insufficient knowledge experience biggest obstacle employing propagation. Therefore, an effort was made outline several techniques together with their history significance.

Functional Characterization of Novel Sesquiterpene Synthases from Indian Sandalwood, Santalum album

Indian Sandalwood, Santalum album L. is highly valued for its fragrant heartwood oil and is dominated by a blend of sesquiterpenes. Sesquiterpenes are formed through cyclization of farnesyl diphosphate (FPP), catalyzed by metal dependent terpene cyclases. This report describes the cloning and functional characterization of five genes, which encode two sesquisabinene synthases (SaSQS1, SaSQS2), ...

Biosynthesis of Sandalwood Oil: Santalum album CYP76F Cytochromes P450 Produce Santalols and Bergamotol

Sandalwood oil is one of the world's most highly prized essential oils, appearing in many high-end perfumes and fragrances. Extracted from the mature heartwood of several Santalum species, sandalwood oil is comprised mainly of sesquiterpene olefins and alcohols. Four sesquiterpenols, α-, β-, and epi-β-santalol and α-exo-bergamotol, make up approximately 90% of the oil of Santalum album. These c...

The biosynthesis of cis-4-hydroxy-L-proline in sandal (Santalum album L.).

Two isomers of hydroxyproline are present in sandal leaves (Santalum album L.), cis-4-hydroxy-Lproline in the free state (Radhakrishnan & Giri, 1954) and bound trans-4-hydroxy-L-proline, which forms a minor proportion (4%) of total hydroxyproline (Kuttan & Radhakrishnan, 1969). Bound trans-4-hydroxy-L-proline in plants (Lamport, 1965) is presumably synthesized by a mechanism similar to that in ...

Studies on bound trans-4-hydroxy-L-proline in sandal (Santalum album L.).

1. trans-4-Hydroxy-l-proline was found to occur in the bound state in the leaves of sandal (Santalum album L.), in which large amounts of free cis-4-hydroxy-l-proline are also present. 2. Bound trans-4-hydroxy-l-proline was present, associated mainly with a ;wall' fraction and a ;soluble' fraction roughly in equal proportions. 3. Bound proline is present only in small amounts in the ;soluble' f...

Sesquiterpene Variation in West Australian Sandalwood (Santalum spicatum).

West Australian sandalwood (Santalum spicatum) has long been exploited for its fragrant, sesquiterpene-rich heartwood; however sandalwood fragrance qualities vary substantially, which is of interest to the sandalwood industry. We investigated metabolite profiles of trees from the arid northern and southeastern and semi-arid southwestern regions of West Australia for patterns in composition and ...
